Inter Club Saturday: Daniel Dion Charity Workout Session

Grapplethon in collaboration with LA Jiu-jitsu/ Ribeiro JJ brings to you the first installment of the Inter Club Saturday Charity Workout Session. Inspired and brought to life by the popular event known as Grapplethon and the Monta Monday classes, "Inter Club Workout" is a unique experience which allows it participants to experience a great workout session while showcasing their support providing assistance to someone going through burden hardships such as a serious injury, terminal disease, death, and other life crisis.

Thanks in part to the  many supporters over the past three years these charity gatherings have been a major success on many fronts which have showcased  unity ,camaraderie, and support for our  Grapplethon Star recipients.

What is the Inter Club Charity Workout Session:  The charity workout session is hybrid combo of a routine fitness/drill class along with the core Grapplethon style of endless rounds training together. The concept behind this idea is to train to the best of our ability while showing support to the Grapplethon Star who is fighting the battle of his/her life.

What is the Cause: The first installment of these Workout sessions we will be showing support our BJJ brother from Port City BJJ Daniel Dion.

Dan's Story: In June 2015, Danny, a 21 year old Hampton resident, was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  He bravely underwent surgery to remove the cancer and has been followed closely by Dana Faber Institute.  Unfortunately, in December, Danny was told that the cancer has spread to his lung and he will undergo nine weeks of intensive chemotherapy.    Danny has been working hard throughout his final year at UNH, as an economics major, with the ultimate goal to attend law school this fall.  In addition to his studies, he works as a legal intern to pay his way through his mounting medical bills.  In his spare time, he practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and in November he earned his purple belt.”

Danny's friends and family are hoping to raise money to ease the burden of his medical bills.

Raffle Prize: Raffles Gifts will not be a major focus at the Charity Workout sessions. However three raffle gifts will be given away during this event.

In-Door entry Gift:  (1) water / on the go towels

Big 300 Challenge: Although this is a charity workout session it seems as though Grapplethon rules are still a major influence that has made its way into this event. As most of you remember from past Grapplethon events we have all completed a certain amount of rolling/training to get extra money for the Grapplethon star. This event will be no different as we will be working together to helping Dan receive extra money by our secret Grapplethon sponsor.

Note: there may even be some new twists since this event is part workout/rolling session so stay tuned.
